Therefore, patientschr('39') families also have different supportive care needs in these dimensions. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of an educational program on SCNs of family of patients with colorectal cancer. Methods : This study is a randomized clinical trial with a control group. The study was conducted on 62 family caregivers who were randomly divided into two groups. The intervention group (n = 31) received educational program and the control group (n = 31) received only the routin education provided by the health centers. The socio demographic questionnaire and the Supportive Care Needs Survey for Partners and Caregivers were used. The data were analyzed using, SPSS software. Results: The mean score of SCNs and different dimensions except work and social (P= 0.236), was significantly decreased only in the intervention group (p = 0/003), and in the control group it was not significant and increased. There was no statistically significant difference between groups in the mean score of SCNs after the intervention. (P> 0.05). However, the mean score of needs in the information dimension after the intervention was higher in the control group and the difference between the two groups was significant. (P = 0.043). Conclusion: Providing an educational program for family caregivers by nurse can reduce their SCNs. Similar studies with longer duration are sugested to achieve better results.
