Informing cancer patients about their diagnosis is a difficult task for medical staff. Cancer disclosure depends on the religion and culture of the community, so we decided to conduct a study on cancer patients and their close relatives' understanding of cancer disclosure. Methods: This is a qualitative and content analysis method. In this study, 10 cancer patients and their close relatives were selected through a targeted sampling method and semi-structured interviews were conducted for 45 to 60 minutes. The data was analyzed using MaxQD10 software. Results: From data analysis, 4 categories were created for the patient and family. The main categories are: support of the treatment team, psychological suffering, helplessness and concealment. Conclusion: The findings of this study show that cancer patients and their families suffer from painlessness and mental disorders when they hear the news of cancer, which need the support of the treatment team to improve this situation, so it is recommended that the treatment team take action.
